I'm dreading today

Today I have off and I'm not sick. I was really hoping to do some more sewing today since the first lessons are now posted for the build a better blouse class. No, that's not what I'm doing today.

My dad is going downhill fast. He is having hallucinations. He lives about 45 minutes away in the foothills and is driving his motorized scooter down the highway. His neighbor is going crazy trying to help him/worrying about him. It is time for my dad to no longer live alone. He thinks everything is fine and that he should be able to stay in his own house. We wanted him to come live with us, but it is even beyond that now. I don't think he should be left alone during the day and both my brother and I work full time. We are going to have to find a place for him and he is not going to want to go there. This is not going to be a good day. I am praying for strength and wisdom.

I know where you are....I am praying for you.
We have a somewhat similiar situation going on , but it is in So. Ca. and so we have to depend on what others are doing.
Take care.

I know exactly what you are going through, and no, it's not easy when you have to steele yourself for parental conflict. Such is the circle of life sometimes. I will pray for much strength for you.

Nancy, sorry to hear your father is so bad. I wish you strength and wisdom in these difficult times and with the decisions you and your family have to make for his accomodation.

Such a difficult time, we went through it with Husband's parents. We ended up taking care of them in our home - and saw them to a peaceful end. So my thought are with you - I guess "you gotta do what you gotta do". Wish there were lessons in this, though!

My thoughts and prayers are with you. It is not a good situation. I am heading into a similar one myself although we are not quite there yet. Good luck.

Nancy,
Lost my dad last April. Unlike you, I lived too far away. I DO have many siblings that were there for Dad in his last days. I just wish I would have realized his days were as numbered as they were-- I would have worked harder to try get to visit him, but as luck (bad luck?) would have it, FIL also was going downhill at the same time -- he went into ICU for aprox 4 weeks, and died about 3 weeks after MY dad did. My youngest is 11, and I couldn't leave the kids by themselves. Life was tough last spring.
